Life at Your School

A Youth-Led Campaign and  Collaborative Film Project

Our Mission

Life at Your School is a student-driven campaign that uses filmmaking, art, and storytelling to explore what it really feels like to grow up, in your body, in your mind, and in a world that doesn’t always ask how you’re doing.

Our goal is to empower students to take creative control of the narrative, breaking down stereotypes, spotlighting mental health, and building empathy through collaboration.

We believe in giving young artists the tools, the stage, and the freedom to say something real.

About the film

Working Title: Life at Your School

Genre: High School Drama / Experimental Ensemble

Created for students, by students

Five students. One failed assignment. One week to finish what they started.

Each student is stuck in summer school because they never completed their project:

“Tell us who you are".

They’ve all avoided the question. Now, after the unexpected loss of a classmate who never got the chance to answer it themselves, they’re being asked again, this time, for real.

The film follows five students and their journeys through self-discovery, grief, and honesty. Together, they build a powerful portrait of what identity, pressure, and healing really look like.

What We’re Doing

  • Building creative teams.

  • Holding open auditions and accepting letters of interest for actors, editors, DPs, PAs, and assistant directors the following summer at the winning high school.

  • Using music, dance, silent film, monologue, collage, and more as storytelling mediums

  • Hosting behind-the-scenes content, sneak peeks, and artist reflections

  • Submitting the final film to youth and indie festivals nationwide

  • Premiering the film for students, families, and community members in the Summer

  • 100% of premiere ticket proceeds go back to the school

Get Involved

  • Students: Audition or join a production team

  • Supporters: Donate through our non-profit partners, The Joy Lab.

  • Everyone: Follow @LifeAtYourSchool and help spread the word

Why It Matters

Because being a teenager is more than what it looks like from the outside.

Because grief doesn’t disappear when you leave class.

Because your story matters, and it’s time to tell it.
