What We Stand For
For artists. For people. For humanity.
In this moment, we feel it is important to let the world know what the two founders of Faba Films stand for, and what we stand against.
We are both pacifists. We do not believe in violence of any kind, whether physical or psychological, individual or government sanctioned. We do not believe in war, militarism, or violence as punishment.
We are not patriotic in the traditional sense. Our love is not reserved for one country or divided between countries. Our love is for humanity. With our whole chest, we can say: free the people of Palestine, free the people of Congo, free the people of Sudan, and free all oppressed people all around the world.
We are not afraid to say: what Israel is doing to the people of Palestine is genocide and ethnic cleansing, and we condemn it without hesitation. We also reject threats of annihilation from any government, including President Donald Trump’s statements about wiping Iran from the face of the earth. We believe leaders and governments must be held accountable for violence against civilians, regardless of who they are, and that the world should pursue a genuine global peace treaty. If humanity can establish agreements to protect peace in outer space, surely we can work toward protecting human life here on Earth.
We believe every human being deserves the basics of a dignified life, regardless of what they can produce, earn, or contribute: food, clean water, shelter, healthcare, education, human connection, and love.
We stand against systems that use psychological or political violence to take rights away from people, including efforts to disenfranchise LGBTQ+ people, people of color, and Black communities. It should never be controversial to say that Black children deserve to grow up safely, or that Black lives are worthy of protection, dignity, and joy.
We stand against sexual exploitation and the abuse of children, including systems that protect powerful people from accountability. We believe children and young people deserve the freedom to discover who they are without being exploited, coerced, or harmed. We are firm believers that the age of consent should be raised to 25 to allow the frontal lobe to fully develop.
We are atheists, and while we will always defend every person’s individual right to religious freedom, we also believe it is important to acknowledge the harm that organized religion has caused throughout history when used as a tool for power, control, and oppression. We do not believe children should be indoctrinated into any religion, ideology, or belief system before they are old enough to critically explore and choose their own beliefs for themselves.
We believe education should be accessible, housing should be attainable, healthcare should be available, and wages should allow people to actually live rather than simply survive. People deserve the opportunity to build a home, support a family if they choose, pursue their interests, and experience a life beyond work.
There is much more that we believe in, and much more that we will stand against. We may continue adding to this statement as Faba Films grows.
For now, we simply want to stand proudly and openly for humanity, equality, peace, freedom, and the dignity of every person.

Founder & Director Of Operations
Céd Hopkins
Céd Hopkins is the founder and driving force behind Faba Films, a peer-reviewed, volunteer-powered film festival and streaming platform dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices in cinema. With a passion for storytelling that
challenges norms and celebrates authenticity, Céd created Faba as a home for the films that too often get overlooked: queer stories, student projects, radical visions, and bold experiments.
Rooted in the belief that art should be accessible, inclusive, and community-led, Céd leads Faba with a focus on transparency, equity, and celebration. Her work is shaped by a deep love of independent film and a fierce commitment to providing space for artists to feel seen, valued, and truly heard.
Founder & Web Developer/Designer
Shaan Brar
With over a decade of experience in web design, Shaan Brar is the architect behind Faba Films’ streaming platform and Faba Books. As both a seasoned developer and a passionate editor, Shaan brings a rare blend of tech expertise & creative insight to the Faba team.
Shaan has built dynamic, user-focused digital experiences across industries, but his heart has always been in storytelling. At Faba, he ensures that our platform isn’t just functional, it’s an inviting, accessible space for filmmakers and audiences alike.
Whether he’s fine-tuning code or cutting scenes in the edit bay, Shaan is driven by a love for cinema and a belief in its power to connect, provoke, and inspire.

The Dog Formerly Known As, Prince
Prince takes his role very seriously, whether it’s overseeing snack distribution, keeping spirits high with tail wags, or offering expert nap-time consultations.
As Executive Pawducer, he ensures every project has the right balance of creativity, joy, and the occasional belly rub break. Known for his impeccable taste in treats and his dramatic “feed me” eyes, Prince brings star power and unconditional love to the team.

second reaction, a mini deep dive, or just shouting out your favorites, your content helps us amplify underrepresented voices and build a vibrant, inclusive film community.
No need to be a pro, just be authentic, enthusiastic, and ready to share the love. We’ll provide access to selected films and credit you on our site and socials. This is a great opportunity for students, aspiring critics, or anyone who enjoys indie cinema.
