Life At Your School – Student Series
This Participation and Media Release Waiver (“Waiver”) is entered into voluntarily by the undersigned Student and Parent/Guardian, in collaboration with:
Elsie Allen High School, Santa Rosa, California
Faba Films, a streaming platform
The Joy Lab, Inc. is a Non-Profit Ogranization that supports this project through its Restorative Joy Youth Project (RJYP), a youth-centered approach designed to center student voice, well-being, and authentic storytelling throughout the filmmaking process.
Collectively referred to as "the Parties".
Purpose of the Project
Life At Your School is an educational film project designed to provide students with hands-on experience in filmmaking while exploring themes of identity, grief, mental health, and student life. The project is created by students, for students, with professional mentorship.
Dates & Location
Filming Dates: June 15, 2026 – July 31, 2026
Filming Location: Elsie Allen High School campus and approved school-related locations
Premiere Event: August 15, 2026 (on-campus red carpet screening)
100% of ticket proceeds from the premiere event will go directly back to Elsie Allen High School.
Voluntary Participation
Participation in this project is completely voluntary.
The Student and Parent/Guardian understand that any party may withdraw from participation at any time, for any reason, without penalty.
Withdrawal will not affect the Student’s academic standing, grades, or relationship with the school.
Student Experience & Educational Benefits
By participating, the Student understands they will receive:
Film credit / job experience
A personalized letter of recommendation
A professional reference from a mentor
Hands-on learning in filmmaking, collaboration, and creative expression
Participation does not guarantee future employment or financial compensation.
Media Release & Distribution
The Student and Parent/Guardian grant permission for the Student’s:
Name
Likeness
Voice
Performance
Image
The finished film may be:
Screened at schools and educational events
Shown during Q&A sessions
Streamed non-exclusively on the Faba Films platform, free to the public
No commercial sale of the film is planned. The project is educational and nonprofit in nature.
Content & Mental Health Considerations
The film addresses topics related to:
Mental health
Grief
Identity
Emotional experiences common to high school students
The Joy Lab, Inc. will provide behavioral scientists to ensure the project remains responsible, age-appropriate, and educational.
Participation does not replace professional mental health services.
Supervision & Safety
Filming will take place during supervised hours (9:00 AM–3:00 PM).
At least one chaperone will be present daily, provided by the school or parents/guardians.
All activities will follow school safety policies.
Acknowledgment & Release
By signing below, the Student and Parent/Guardian:
Acknowledge understanding of the project and its scope
Agree to participation under the terms outlined above
Release the Parties from liability related to participation, except in cases of gross negligence or misconduct
